Topic: “Scythe to Shard” history of Bermondsey area in Surrey 1700’s – 2017 Using maps from the 1700’s to modern day London, exploring the transforming of rural England into Charles Dickens’  1800’s slums and the suburbia of today. The developing industries and factories, shipping and railways – the May family of the 1841 Census. James May 1833 – 1880 and family of Victoria.   Brian has turned his hand to many things from Farm Labourer to Farmer to Sales Agent. With a lot of flying and aircraft knowledge enabling him to act as a flying instructor and to be employed in coastal surveillance and as a corporate & commercial  Pilot. Prior to his retirement in 2012 he spent 3 years as Director of NSW Music Conservatorium in Deniliquin and the last two years as a Computer Systems Officer in Bendigo. Brian has worked all over Australia and in New Guinea
