Naval and Military
The group covers the conflicts of the 19th and 20th centuries – from the Napoleonic War to the Vietnam War – and the men and women who served in them. Our interests are expanding to cover a longer time period and to cover various auxiliary services. The focus is on the countries of the British Empire and Commonwealth, but not exclusively.
The NMIG members can help you expand your family military knowledge with advice on available military records, newspapers and military histories. For a donation to commensurate with the effort required, members will also assist non-members with research.
Group members will receive copies of our monthly News Magazine by e-mail, or post, and have the opportunity to attend our February-November monthly meetings.
Our meetings are a mix of presentations, information exchange, show-and-tell, questions and answers, and a good deal of general barrack-room chit-chat about family history research in general – and a whole lot more besides! Refreshments are served.
Join the NMIG and find out what your family members did during the war!
Meetings take place on the fourth Monday of each month, February to November inclusive. Alternative arrangements will be made for Public Holidays, if necessary. All meetings commence at 7:30pm and are held in the library.
